Navy junior squash standout
Jack Lentz (Philadelphia, Pa.) was named to the 10-player All-Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference Team it was announced this week. The Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference is the first squash-specific collegiate athletic conference in the United States and was officially sanctioned by the College Squash Association Board of Directors last May. The conference includes Dickinson, Drexel, Franklin & Marshall, George Washington, MIT, Navy and Virginia.
Lentz, who played the No. 1 spot on the ladder for the Mids this winter, closed out the season with a team-best 17-9 record. He enjoyed a sensational postseason where he won all three of his matches at the College Squash Association (CSA) Team Championship - 3-1 vs. Bowdoin's Deven Kanwal, 3-1 vs. Middlebury's Nick Bermingham and 3-0 vs. Bates' Graham Bonnell. Additionally, he posted a 2-1 record in the Molloy East division of the CSA Individual Championship. Lentz swept Hobart's Quinn Udy before knocking off Penn's Saksham Choudhary in four games. Choudhary was a perfect 17-0 coming into his match against Lentz before suffering a 10-12, 11-4, 11-7, 11-9 loss. Lentz bowed out of the tournament with a 3-1 loss to Harvard's George Crowne in the semis.
Lentz also captured his 50th career victory this season, defeating MIT's Aman Sanger, 11-3, 12-10, 13-11, in the MASC Championship. Navy's lone rising senior, Lentz will enter his final year of competition with a 55-24 record and needing just three wins to stand among Navy's all-time top 25 leader board for career wins.
