11 Naval Academy Varsity Sports Programs Receive NCAA APR Public Recognition

Air Force and Army have three each

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind.—The Naval Academy had 11 varsity sports programs – football, men's cross country, men's golf, men's lacrosse, men's track & field, wrestling, women's cross country, women's golf, women's rowing, women's swimming & diving and volleyball --  receive NCAA recognition for ranking among their sport's top 10 for Academic Progress Rate (APR) scores.

The 11 teams honored were nearly twice as many as the other two Service Academies combined (Air Force and Army had three each).

The APR provides a real-time look at a team's academic success each semester by tracking the academic progress of each recruited student-athlete. The APR accounts for eligibility, retention rate and graduation to provide a measure of each team's academic performance. This year's APR report is a multi-year rate based on scores from the academic years 2015-16 through 2018-19.
