AUSTIN, Texas – Jared Leins (Jr., Raleigh, N.C.) and
Michael Coritz (Sr., Clifton, Va.) were each selected as College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-Americans, the national organization announced. Leins was selected as a second-team honoree with Coritz garnering third-team honors.

Leins and Coritz each earn the national award for the first time in their careers after being selected as Academic All-District honorees the past two seasons. The duo becomes the first Academic All-Americans in program history since
Stephen Born earned a first-team recognition during the 2018 season.

Navy's two Academic All-Americans are tied for most in the country in with Army, Duke, Georgia, Georgia Tech and New Mexico State.

Leins has combined for a record of 8-4 in 34 appearances and 16 starts during his first three years at Navy. He has racked up a 3.58 ERA in 123-1/3 innings of work and struck out 138 batters in his career. Leins was also selected as a Freshman All-American in 2018 and he was named to the Patriot League All-Tournament Team in 2019.Â

The junior is majoring in mechanical engineering and had compiled a 3.83 grade-point average prior to the spring semester. Leins has also been selected to the Superintendent's List once, Commandant's List five times and Dean's List four times.

Coritz capped off his career with a .283 batting average to go along with 84 runs scored, 122 hits and 52 RBIs. He also made 153 total appearances and 124 starts in his four seasons at Navy while compiling a .976 fielding percentage with 170 putouts and 322 assists. Coritz captained the Midshipmen during the shortened 2020 season where Navy finished with a 14-1 record overall and it won the final 14 games of the season for the program's second-longest single-season winning streak.

Prior to the 2020 spring semester, Coritz had a 3.46 grade-point average as a quantitative economics major. Coritz is set to become a Navy pilot and during his time at the Naval Academy he was named to the Superintendent's List once, Commandant's List five times and Dean's list three times.

The pair of Leins and Coritz garnered Second Team All-Patriot League honors in 2018 with Leins also being selected to the 2020 Preseason All-Patriot League Team.

Of the 33 members on the three Academic All-American teams, seven boasted perfect 4.0 GPAs with Nick Howie of Eastern Kentucky leading the way after being selected as the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team Member of the Year.
