CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – The Patriot League announced the 2020 Patriot League Academic Honor Roll for women's rowing and the Navy program was recognized with a record 36 honorees. The Midshipmen's record-breaking academic performance was highlighted by 12 student-athletes with 4.00 GPAs and 11 seniors recognized. Recent graduate
Sam Fox, an oceanography major, led the way as she was honored for the fourth time in her career as a student-athlete at Navy.
To be eligible for the spring Academic Honor Roll, a student-athlete must earn a 3.20 grade-point average in the spring semester and participate in one of the Patriot League's winter or spring championship sports.
The senior trio of
Isabel Billinge (Applied Physics),
Clare McCarthy (Cyber Operations) and
Riley Schliem (Ocean Engineering) closed their final semester at the Naval Academy with perfect 4.00 GPAs. They're joined with flawless spring GPAs by juniors
Elizabeth Downing (Mathematics w/Economics),
Kate Long (Oceanography-Honors) and
Bray Zimmerman (Ocean Engineering), sophomores
Dana Hirschhorn (Cyber Operations),
Hanna Prince (Cyber Operations) and
Sky Schork (Mechanical Engineering), freshmen
Katherine Hammonds (Computer Science),
Cathy Meehan (Mathematics w/Economics) and
Amelia Oldham (Chemistry).
The other seven seniors to earn a spot on the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll this spring included,
Raye Brackett (Political Science),
Ashlyn Dawson (General Science),
Caroline Dooley (Political Science),
Elizabeth Drake (Cyber Operations),
Caroline Kelly (Oceanography),
Grace Lawrence (Cyber Operations) and
Maya McPartlin (Operations Research).
Joining Fox as a multi-year honoree are Downing, Long, Schliem, Zimmerman and
Katie Miller (Ocean Engineering) in the three-time category, while
Lucy Freidenrich (Physics),
Annie Pentaleri (Chinese), Hirschhorn, McCarthy, Prince and Schork are two-time recipients.
