ANNAPOLIS, Md. ā The Navy water polo team (6-10, 1-1 MAWPC-East) returns to action for a pair of Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference-East games on Saturday, Oct. 16. The Mids open the day on the road as they travel to Baltimore to take on Johns Hopkins (1-11, 0-2) at 10:00 a.m. at the Newton White Athletic Center ā Natatorium. The Midshipmen host Bucknell (6-8, 1-3) at Scott Natatorium in Annapolis at 7:00 p.m. to close the day.

Accessing the USNA
The USNA is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors are encouraged to park downtown and walk through the security gates at Gate 1. When walking on, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver's license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.

COVID-19 Policy
Masks must be worn by everyone indoors regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. Once on the USNA grounds, those who have not been vaccinated must wear a mask at all times and those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors but must wear a mask while indoors.

Scouting the Midshipmen
The Midshipmen enter the weekend with a 6-10 overall record, and a 1-1 record in Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference play.

Offensively, the Mids are led by
Isaac Salinas (Spring City, Pa.),
Jake Altmayer (Pasadena, Calif.),
Jack Weggeland (Riverside, Calif.),
Will Clark (Laguna Beach, Calif.),
Ivan Pang (El Monte, Calif.), and
Hayden Kahn (San Clemente, Calif.). Salinas leads all Midshipmen with 42 total points, including a team-best 33 goals. Altmayer leads the team with 17 assists and has chipped in eight goals for 25 total points. Weggeland (11g 7a) scored eight points (4g 4a) in California to move into third on the team with 18 total points. Clark (7g 10a), Pang (6g 10a), and Kahn (15g 0a) round out Navy's double-digit scorers with 17, 16, and 15 points, respectively.

Defensively,
Caden Capobianco (Laguna Beach, Calif.) and
Max Sandberg (Newport Beach, Calif.) have seen a majority of the action. Capobianco leads the team with 128 saves in 13 games played, while registering a team-high 30 steals. Sandberg has played in eight games with 55 stops and eight steals.

Scouting the Opposition
Johns Hopkins (1-11, 0-2 in the MAWPC-East)
The Blue Jays enter the weekend with a 1-11 overall record and an 0-2 mark in conference play. Most recently, Johns Hopkins played at the Gary Troyer Memorial Tournament in Claremont, Calif. JHU played four teams ranked in the Division III Top 10, dropping contests to No. 1 Pomona-Pitzer (L, 14-6), No. 3 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps (L, 9-3), No. 7 Redlands (L, 14-12), and No. 4 Whittier (L, 14-10). Hopkins' lone win of the season came in Annapolis, as the Blue Jays defeated the Salem Tigers, 12-10, in the Navy Open on Sept. 4.

Bucknell (6-8, 1-3 in the MAWPC-East)
The Bison enter the weekend with a 6-8 overall record, including a 1-3 record against league competition. Bucknell won its last game, defeating Wagner, 9-5, to secure its first conference win of the season. The Bison will play at George Washington before taking on the Midshipmen. Bucknell has only played one true road contest entering Saturday (at Princeton during Princeton Invite). The Bison are 0-1 in road games and 3-4 in neutral site games so far. Andu Vlasceanu enters Saturday needing just seven goals to reach 100 for his career, while Lewis is 15 goals away with 85 career tallies.
