BETHLEHEM, Pa. –– Members of the Navy swimming and diving teams combined to sweep the Patriot League's weekly awards for the sport that were announced Tuesday.
Jonah Harm (So., Placerville, Calif.) and
Sydney Harrington (Sr., Fairfax, Va.) earned the swimmer-of-the-week awards with
George Moore (So., New Canaan, Conn.) and
Hannah Montau (Sr., Germantown, Md.) being named the two divers of the week.
The four earned their respective awards for their efforts in helping each Navy team defeat both Johns Hopkins and Towson Friday in Annapolis.
Harm placed first overall in the 100 butterfly race and second in the 100 breaststroke event. He posted a time of 48.32 in the former and 54.92 in the latter. His 100 fly effort was near the NCAA B cut standard of 47.43. Harm also swam the butterfly leg on Navy's winning 200 medley relay team. His time of 20.88 was the fastest in the field by three-quarters of a second.
Harrington, who earned the accolade for the second week in a row, won the 200 butterfly and 500 freestyle events. Her time of 1:59.38 in the 200 fly gave her the victory by over six seconds and also was just outside of the NCAA B cut standard of 1:59.23. Harrington then won the 500 free by three seconds with a time of 4:59.86. She proceeded to swim the opening leg of Navy's victorious 200 freestyle relay team in the fastest clocking of any leadoff swimmer in the race (23.94).
Moore scored 308.85 points to win the three-meter competition by nearly 23 points. He also placed second to teammate Zach Peng (Fr., Oakton, Va.) in the one-meter event by eight-hundredths of a point with his score of 266.40.
Montau, like Harrington, a repeat award recipient, matched Moore's effort by convincingly winning the three-meter event and narrowly being edged for the victory on the one-meter board. She scored 289.73 points to win the three-meter competition by nearly 30 points and totaled 274.88 points to finish second in the one-meter event by three points. Both of her scores were NCAA Zone Meet qualifying totals.
Navy will close a stretch of three meets in the first three weeks of the season Saturday when the Mids play host to UMBC Saturday at 11 a.m.
