ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The Navy swimming and diving teams posted victories in all but one of the 32 events as the Mids swept UMBC Saturday at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis. Navy (3-1) tallied a 201-88 victory over UMBC (0-3) in the men's meet and the Mids (3-1) notched a 177-105 win over the Retrievers (1-2) in the women's dual.
There were nine different individual event winners on the day for the Navy women's team, with four athletes earning a pair of victories.
Sydney Harrington (Sr., Fairfax, Va.) continued her strong start to the season by winning the 200 freestyle (1:51.22) and the 100 butterfly (54.39) races.
Elly Deas (Jr., Johns Creek, Ga.) first won the 100 backstroke (58.14) then won the 500 freestyle (5:06.93).
Brooke West (Sr., River Forest, Ill.) placed first in the 50 free (24.20) and 200 back (2:03.43) events. Completing the list of multiple event winners was diver
Hannah Montau (Sr., Germantown, Md.), who won the one-meter (278.55) and three-meter (301.58) events.
Even better depth was displayed on the men's side as 12 Mids earned at least one first-place victory during the meet. The lone two multiple event winners were
Garrett McGovern (So., Nashville, Tenn.) and
Jackson Schultz (Jr., Millersville, Md.). McGovern won the 200 free (1:41.12) and 500 free (4:31.54) events, while Schultz touched the wall first in the 100 (55.78) and 200 breast (2:00.86) races.

Navy also swept the 200 medley and 400 freestyle relay races.
The Mids will be back in Lejeune Hall Nov. 6 when they play host to American, Bucknell and Lafayette.
