BETHLEHEM, Pa. –– Navy's
Sydney Harrington (Sr., Fairfax, Va.),
Hannah Montau (Sr., Germantown, Md.) and
Jackson Schultz (Jr., Millersville, Md.) each garnered weekly awards from the Patriot League on Tuesday. Harrington was named the women's swimmer of the week, Montau won the diver-of-the-week honor and Schultz received the men's swimmer-of-the-week accolade.
Each of the awards came during Navy's sweep of UMBC Saturday in Lejeune Hall.
Harrington received her third weekly award in as many weeks and the ninth nod of her career. She opened the dual meet by swimming the fastest freestyle leg in the 200 medley relay field by three-quarters of a second. Harrington then recorded first-place finishes in the 200 free by 2.45 seconds and the 100 fly by 3.75 seconds with her times of 1:51.22 and 54.39 respectively. She closed the meet by posting the fastest anchor leg in the 400 freestyle relay by 1.25 seconds.
Montau also is a three-time winner of her award this year and has now received the accolade 13 times in her career. She won both the one and three-meter boards during the meet against the Retrievers. Montau posted a score of 278.55 to win the former by 16.57 points and 301.58 to place first in the latter by 55.95 points.
Schultz earned the award for the first time in his career. He began the meet by recording the fastest breaststroke leg of any swimmer in the 200 medley relay by nearly eight-tenths of a second. Schultz went on to win the 100 breaststroke by just over one-half of a second with his effort of 55.78, and then the 200 breaststroke by 3.20 seconds with his time of 2:00.86.
Each Navy team has posted a 3-1 record on the year. The Mids will play host to American, Bucknell and Lafayette on Nov. 6.
