Water Polo Takes on George Washington in MAWPC Match Up

Navy will host GW at 5:00 p.m. on Friday at Scott Natatorium.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy water polo team (9-10, 4-1 MAWPC-East) hosts Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference foe George Washington (7-10, 4-2) on Friday, Oct. 29 at Scott Natatorium in Annapolis at 5:00 p.m. The game will be live streamed through CWPATV on Stretch

Accessing the USNA
The USNA is closed to all vehicles without a Department of Defense-approved identification card. All other visitors are encouraged to park downtown and walk through the security gates at Gate 1. When walking on, those ages 18 and over must present a photo identification card (driver's license) to gain access and those ages 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
 
COVID-19 Policy
Masks must be worn by everyone indoors regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status. Once on the USNA grounds, those who have not been vaccinated must wear a mask at all times and those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors but must wear a mask while indoors.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
The Midshipmen enter the weekend with a 9-10 overall record, and a 4-1 record in MAWPC play.
 
Offensively, the Mids are led by Isaac Salinas (Spring City, Pa.), Jake Altmayer (Pasadena, Calif.), Will Clark (Laguna Beach, Calif.), Jack Weggeland (Riverside, Calif.), and Ivan Pang (El Monte, Calif.). Salinas leads all Midshipmen with 50 total points, including a team-best 40 goals. Altmayer leads the team with 19 assists and has chipped in 14 goals for 33 total points. Clark is third on the team in points (25) with a balanced 11 goals and 14 assists. Weggeland (14g 10a) and Pang (8g 14a) round out Navy's top-five scorers with 24 and 22 points, respectively.
 
Defensively, Caden Capobianco (Laguna Beach, Calif.) and Max Sandberg (Newport Beach, Calif.) have seen a majority of the action. Capobianco leads the team with 153 saves in 16 games played, while registering a team-high 39 steals. Sandberg has played in 10 games with 62 stops and eight steals.
 
Scouting the Opposition
George Washington (7-10, 4-2 in the MAWPC-East)

The Colonials enter the weekend with a 7-10 overall record, including a 4-2 mark against league competition. George Washington is led by Andras Levai who boasts a team-best 63 points on a team-high 38 goals with a team-best 25 assists. Nick Schroeder is second on the team with 40 points on 27 goals and 13 helpers. Defensively, Luca Castorina is the Colonials' primary goalie, registering 207 saves compared to 206 goals allowed with a team-leading 35 steals.

Following the George Washington game, Navy will play three games next weekend. The Midshipmen host two conference foes – Wagner (12:00 p.m.) and Fordham (5:00 p.m.) – on Saturday, Nov. 6 before traveling to Lewisburg, Pa. for a Sunday morning tilt with Bucknell (10:00 a.m.) on Nov. 7. Each game will be live streamed through CWPATV.
