Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy closes its three-game season-opening stretch against the ACC Monday night when the Mids play at Louisville. Navy previously played at No. 25 Virginia (W, 66-58) and played host to Virginia Tech (L, 77-57).
2 – The Mids are playing the Cardinals for the first time since the 1972-73 season.
3 – Monday's game will be the seventh in Navy history in the Commonwealth of Kentucky and the first in nine seasons.
4 –
Tyler Nelson scored a career-high 15 points in Navy's loss to Virginia Tech Friday night. He was 5-6 from the field against the Hokies.
5 – Navy head coach
Ed DeChellis will move into sole possession of third place for the most games as the head coach of the Mids. Monday's game will be his 301st on the Navy sideline, which moves him past John Wilson's total of 300.
Navy-Louisville Series
• Navy and Louisville have met just once. That game took place Dec. 18, 1972, in Louisville.
• The Cardinals posted a 68-52 victory over the Mids in that inaugural and, to date, only meeting.
