Track and Field Posts 29 Qualifying Marks in Season Opener

The Midshipmen finished the Navy Invitational with 29 IC4A / ECAC qualifying marks and times.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy track and field team officially opened the 2021-22 campaign with the annual Navy Invitational I on Saturday at Wesley A. Brown Field House in Annapolis, Md. The Midshipmen finished the day with 29 IC4A / ECAC qualifying marks and times.

"I thought there was some good and there was some bad," Director of Navy Track and Field Jamie Cook said after the meet. "We had some young people step up. There were some pleasant surprises and some PRs across the board. Probably too numerous to count. When you look at a performance like this, you ask what could've gone better. Our overall competitiveness needs to be improved moving forward. I think the newcomers did well. It talks to our culture we have created here. I think the energy [of the fans] was high. We have to take advantage of those opportunities because nothing is promised."

On the day, the Mids registered 29 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times and marks. The men's team recorded 20 IC4A qualifiers, while the women's team combined for nine ECAC marks.

Navy returns to action on Saturday, January 15 as the Midshipmen take on Princeton in a dual meet at Wesley A. Brown in Annapolis.
