DANBURY, Conn. - A pivotal player in Navy's dominant 16.1-point victory over Air Force and Army at the 2021 All-Academy Championships this past weekend, Syam Buradagunta was announced as the ECAC's Rookie of the Week. The freshman from Westborough, Massachusetts competed on a team-high four events on Saturday and turned in counting scores on all four, the floor exercise, pommel horse, vault and high bar, for the Mids. This is the second time in as many competitions that Buradagunta has been recognized as the conference's rookie of the week.

Buradagunta was near the top of the standings throughout the meet on Saturday led by his floor exercise routine that scored 13.8 points, good for second overall in the field of 18 gymnasts. He registered a pair of fifth place results on the pommel horse and high bar with scores of 12.95 and 12.3, respectively. He nearly reached the 14.0-point plateau on the vault as he posted a 13.95 to place 10th overall.

Navy will be back in action this afternoon with a virtual competition against the Stanford Cardinal, the 2019 NCAA Champions. First touch in Macdonough Hall for the Mids is set for 5 p.m. with all of the action streamed live through the Virtius platform.
