ANNAPOLIS, Md.—Navy head football coach Ken Niumatalolo announced today that rising sophomore linebacker Will Harbour is the 2021 winner of the Vice Admiral William P. Mack Award.

The Admiral Mack Award is given annually to the Navy football player who has shown the most improvement during spring practice.  The award was established in 1976 and is named in honor of Vice Admiral Mack, the Naval Academy Superintendent from 1972-75.

Harbour is the eighth linebacker to win the award, which includes such notables as Tyler Simmons (2009), Bobby McClarin (2003), Lane Jackson (2002) and Ted Dumbauld (1979).

"Will Harbour has had an awesome spring," said Niumatalolo.  "He's a great young man and epitomizes everything the Admiral Mack Award stands for.  We are super excited about his future."

"Will has attacked this spring in every aspect," said linebackers coach P.J. Volker.  "He is focused, fast and physical on the field. Navy fans are going to love the way he plays."

Harbour, who stands 6-1 and weighs 225 pounds, is a 2020 graduate of Rick Reedy High School in Frisco, Texas.  He was a three-sport athlete who earned varsity letters in football (4), track & field (3) and baseball.  He was named Class 5A Second-Team All-State as a junior and was the 2018 Dallas-Fort Worth Utility Player of the Year.

Harbour was a three-time All-District selection and was named the 2018 and 2019 District 7-5A-II Defensive Most Valuable Player. Harbour led Rick Reedy to the 2019 District, Bi-District and area titles.
