ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The #21 Navy women's lacrosse team (4-1) hosts #18 Drexel (8-1) in a top 25 showdown on Wednesday evening at 5:00 p.m. at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Live stats will be available throughout the game.
Spectator Policy
Following the guidelines set by state and local government officials, spectators are allowed at home Navy women's lacrosse games. Fans will be required to wear a mask throughout the contest and asked to maintain social distancing.
Scouting the Midshipmen
The Midshipmen are off to a 4-1 start and are looking to rebound after sustaining their first loss of the season to nationally-ranked Loyola last week. Navy is 2-1 at home and 3-0 in nonconference games this season.
Offensively, the Midshipmen are led by seniors
Nicole Victory (Issaquah, Wash.) and
Ellie Lecker (Ponte Vedra, Fla.), and junior
Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.). Victory paces the offense with a team-high 20 points on 13 goals and seven assists, while Lecker has a team-high 14 goals and an assist to her credit. Roelofs is balanced with seven goals and seven helpers for 14 total points.
Defensively, Navy is led by senior captain
Caroline Kwon (Cooksville, Md.) and junior
Christine Fiore (Darien, Conn.). The duo leads the squad with six caused turnovers apiece, while sophomore
Erin Carson (New Albany, Ohio) has five and Lecker adds four. Fiore leads the team with 11 ground balls. She is followed Carson who has 10 and Roelofs who has eight. Senior
Lauren Herrington (Round Rock, Texas) and sophomore
Athena Corroon (Greenwich, Conn.) who have seven each. Roelofs leads the team with 28 draw controls, while Lecker has won 16 draws of her own.
Abbi Young (Alamo, Calif.) has seen a majority of minutes at goal for the Midshipmen. The junior has worked nearly 162 minutes of action, recording a pair of wins and 12 saves. She is joined by senior
Annie Maloney (Ellicott City, Md.) and
Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) who have each logged time between the pipes. Maloney has worked just under 49 minutes at goal with a win and two saves. Torres made her collegiate debut in the second half against Army, picking up a win and recording 10 stops. She earned the start and worked nearly a complete game against Loyola to tally just under 90 minutes in the cage.
Scouting the Opponent
Drexel enters the week ranked #18 according to the IWLCA. The Dragons are 8-1 on the season with their only blemish coming on the road at the hands of nationally-ranked Loyola (L, 17-12). In their last outing, the Dragons posted a 19-8 road win at Hostra.
Corinne Bednarik of the Drexel women's lacrosse team was named the Colonial Athletic Association Women's Lacrosse Rookie of the Week. Bednarik helped guide Drexel to a 1-0 start in conference play beating Hofstra, 19-8. The sophomore tied a career-high six points by scoring four goals and two assists. Her goal total also matched a career-best. The Glenmoore, Pa. native has now scored three or more goals on four occasions this season.

The game marks the first meeting between the two teams. Head coach
Cindy Timchal is 1-0 all-time against the Dragons.
Navy is 3-2 all-time against current members of the CAA. The Midshipmen defeated Towson at home in 2019 in the teams' only meeting and is 2-2 all-time against William & Mary.
National Rankings
The Navy women's lacrosse team remained ranked in two of the three national polls. The Midshipmen are ranked #21 according to the Intercollegiate Women's Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA), while coming in at #20 per the US Lacrosse Magazine poll. The Mids are receiving votes according to the Inside Lacrosse media poll.
The Navy women's lacrosse team has been ranked nationally for 47 consecutive weeks according to the IWLCA, dating back to the final poll of the 2017 season.
Drexel, who is ranked #18 according to the IWLCA, is the second consecutive ranked opponents Navy will face. The Midshipmen welcomed #13 Loyola to Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium last Wednesday.
