BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore
Angelina Chan (Franklin, Tenn.) represented the Navy women's golf program on the Academic All-Patriot League Team, the league office announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Chan earns the award for the first time in her career and she becomes the third different player in program history to be selected to the five-person team.
Morgan Frazier was named to the team in 2018 and 2019 while Renata Bucher was selected in 2014, 2015 and 2016.
During her sophomore season, Chan competed at the Patriot League Championship for the first time in her career and she finished tied for fourth with a 14-over par 230 to earn First Team All-Patriot League honors. She helped Navy win its first Patriot League title and earn its first berth in the NCAA Championship. On the year, Chan has averaged an 80.6 over seven rounds at three events.
In the classroom, Chan has compiled a 3.79 grade-point average as an operations research major. She has also been named to the Naval Academy's Commandant's List twice and Dean's List twice. As a freshman, Chan was also named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was a WGCA Scholar All-American.
Joining Chan on the team is Boston University's Hanako Kawasaki and Alice Fan, Bucknell's Casey Morrow and Richmond's Emily Ward. Kawasaki was named as the Patriot League Women's Golf Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Chan and the Navy women's golf team are currently competing at the NCAA Stanford Regional where the Midshipmen are 18th after the first round. Chan posted Navy's lowest score in the first round with a 2-over par 73 on Monday. Navy wraps up competition at the regional on Tuesday and Wednesday.
