BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Sophomore
Jillian Taggart (Fair Oaks, Calif.) was named to the Patriot League's Women's Tennis All-Academic Team, the league announced on Friday morning. Taggart becomes the sixth individual from the Navy women's tennis program to garner the award and this is the first time she has earned the recognition in her career.

This also marks the fourth-straight season that the Midshipmen have had at least one individual named to the Academic All-Patriot League Team.

During her sophomore season and her first Patriot League campaign, Taggart was named to the All-Patriot League First Team for Navy. She played in nine singles matches and nine doubles matches playing at the No. 1 position each time. At No. 1 singles, Taggart posted a 4-5 record and went 2-1 in Patriot League matches. In doubles contests, she paired with
Miranda Deng (Sr., North Potomac, Md.) for nine contests at No. 1 doubles where the duo finished 6-3 overall and 2-1 in the Patriot League.

Over her first two seasons at Navy, Taggart has a career record of 23-8 in doubles matches where her .742 winning percentage ranks second in school history. In singles, the sophomore has compiled a record of 22-11 in her career.

In the classroom, Taggart compiled a 3.65 grade-point average heading into the 2021 spring semester and is currently majoring in quantitative economics. Over her first two years at Navy, she has been named the Naval Academy's Superintendent's List once, Commandant's List four times and Dean's List twice. As a freshman, Taggart was named to the Patriot League Academic Honor Roll and was also an ITA Scholar-Athlete.

Joining Taggart on the six-person team is Emily Kim of Boston U., Bucknell's Daniela Bellini, Lafayette's Samantha Snyder, Lehigh's Ella Imhof and Loyola's Kateri Martin. Kim was also named as the Women's Tennis Scholar-Athlete of the Year.

Taggart helped the Midshipmen finish the 2021 season with a record of 7-4 overall along with a 3-2 mark in Patriot League matches. The Midshipmen also made their seventh appearance in the Patriot League Championship Match in the program's 12th season.
