ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Gymnast Ryan McVay, who will be graduating from the Naval Academy this Friday, will suit up one more time with "Navy" on his chest as he is scheduled to compete at the 2021 U.S. Gymnastics Championships in Fort Worth, Texas, June 3 through 6. The Mids' Team MVP in 2021, McVay will test himself against the nation's best in hopes of moving one step closer to a spot on the 2021 U.S. Olympic Team. The four-day championships will decide the 2021 men's and women's national all-around and individual event champions and serve as an important stop on the Road to Tokyo, as performances will help determine who will compete at U.S. Olympic Team Trials for gymnastics June 24-27 in St. Louis, Mo.

McVay closed out his award-winning career by being named the 2021 ECAC Senior Gymnast of the Year this past April. The all-around champion at the league championship, McVay helped Navy win its third straight ECAC Championship before highlighting the team's performance at the 2021 NCAA Championship in Minneapolis, Minn. over the weekend of April 16-17. For the second time in his career, he qualified for the event finals of NCAA Championship, first via the high bar in 2019 and this spring via the all-around. In the finals of this year's all-around, McVay placed 10th in the nation with a career-high 79.433 cumulative score over six events. During his four years competing for Head Coach Kip Simons and the Navy Midshipmen, he suited up in 39 meets and scored points as an all-arounder 13 times. In postseason events, he earned 12 All-ECAC honors, including high bar honors all four years; additionally he collected four All-USAG All-American nods, highlighted by his 2019 USAG Collegiate All-Around Championship.
