ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Matt Nocita (Jr., Porter Ranch, Calif.) of the Navy men's soccer program was selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the national organization announced on Thursday. Nocita was part of the NCAA Division I District II Team, which includes student-athletes from schools in Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Washington D.C. and West Virginia.
 
This is the first time Nocita has earned the district honor and he becomes the eighth individual in program history to capture the award. Nocita becomes the first award winner since 2013 when Dave Arnold and Zach Davis earned the recognition.
 
Nocita was selected as the Patriot League Co-Defensive Player of the Year this spring and he was also named to the First Team All-Patriot League. Nocita has earned defensive player of the year and first-team honors in each of the past two seasons. He was also a United Soccer Coaches Second Team All-Atlantic Region selection this year. The junior has started in six of the Midshipmen's seven games this season and played the full time in all six of his appearances while chipping in with a goal.
 
Over his three seasons at Navy, he has started in 40 of Navy's 41 games since joining the program where he has logged 3,673 minutes on the field for the Midshipmen. Nocita has also tallied four goals and two assists during his first three seasons with the program.
 
In the classroom, Nocita has a 3.58 grade-point average and is majoring in history. In his first six semesters at Navy, he has been selected to the Superintendent's List three times, Commandant's List four times and Dean's List twice. Nocita is also a two-time selection on the Academic All-Patriot League Team and a two-time Patriot League Academic Honor Roll award winner.
 
Each individual named to an All-District Team will advance to the national ballot where first-, second- and third-team Academic All-Americans will be honored next month.
