ANNAPOLIS, Md. –– The 2021-22 Navy swimming and diving schedule announced today is highlighted by the Mids playing host to both the annual Star Meet against Army and the Patriot League Championship, plus an invitational at Ohio State and a double-dual meet in New Jersey against Princeton and Notre Dame.
The season starts with Navy competing at Penn State on Oct. 9 and continues with a home meet against Johns Hopkins and Towson on Oct. 15. The Mids also will play host to UMBC on Oct. 23 and American, Buckell and Lafayette on Nov. 6 during the fall semester.
Navy's three-day meet this fall has it competing at the Ohio State Invitational Nov. 18-20. It is the first time the Mids are entered into the meet. Additional teams in the field include men's and women's teams from Kentucky, Pitt, Indiana, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and Virginia Tech and the UCLA women's team.
The 2021 calendar year ends for the Mids with the Dec. 9 dual against Army in Lejeune Hall, then the teams will start 2022 with a Jan. 15 meet at Princeton against the Tigers and Notre Dame. Princeton has long been a regular opponent for the Navy men's team, but this will be just the second meet between the women's teams and the first since the 1997-98 season. The lone prior time either Navy team faced Notre Dame in a dual meet was during the 1994-95 season.
The championship portion of the season begins with Navy playing host to the Patriot League Championship Feb. 16-19. Lejeune Hall will be the host venue for the meet for a league-high 13th time.
Navy also will be the site for the March 7-9 NCAA Zone A Diving Championship.
Georgia Tech will play host to both the women's (March 16-19) and men's (March 23-26) NCAA Championship meets.
