Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy and Boston U. will be finishing their two-game regular season series before the Mids play American, Army, Lehigh or Loyola and before the Terriers face Colgate, Holy Cross, Lafayette or Lehigh.
2 – Before Navy defeated Boston U. in Annapolis on Jan. 4, the road team had won 10-straight Patriot League regular season games in the series. Overall, the home team has now won back-to-back games (the Terriers defeated the Mids in Boston in a 2020 Patriot League Tournament quarterfinal round game).
3 – With just 18 games played between the teams, the Boston U.-Navy series is tied with Boston U.-Lehigh and Army-Loyola for 42nd place (out of 45) for the fewest number of overall games between current Patriot League teams. The lone series to have fewer games is Colgate-Loyola with 17.
4 – Boston U. is one of seven all-time opponents Navy has faced in which the first game in the series took place in the NCAA Tournament. The inaugural game between the Mids and the Terriers occurred in the regional semifinal of the 1959 NCAA Tournament. Fellow Patriot League-member Holy Cross also is on that list (1947).
5 – Navy in its history has faced each of the Boston-area Division I programs in Boston College (last: 1966-67), Boston U., Harvard (2000-01) and Northeastern (2014-15).
Series History
•   Boston U. leads the all-time series with Navy, 12-6.
•   The teams first met during the second round (regional semifinal) of the 1959 NCAA Tournament. The Terriers defeated the Mids, 62-55 in overtime, in a game played at the Charlotte Coliseum.
•   The teams met on just one other occasion prior to Boston U. joining the Patriot League for the 2013-14 season. That additional game was a Dec. 30, 1988, win by the Terriers (75-54) at the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, Calif.
•   Navy holds a 5-3 advantage in games played in Boston. This includes a 5-1 lead in games played in Case Gym.
•   Boston U. also leads Navy in Patriot League regular season games played between the teams, 9-6.
•   Navy has tallied a 5-2 record against Boston U. in league regular season games played in Boston, including a 5-0 record in such games played in Case Gym.
•   Navy and Boston U. did not meet during the 2021 Patriot League season.
•   The Terriers won both regular season games against the Mids during the 2014 and '15 seasons. Since then, the teams have split the annual two-game series.
•   The road team has posted a 12-3 record in the 15 Patriot League regular season games played between the teams, and had 10-straight games until Navy won in Annapolis earlier this season.
