Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy and Coppin State are meeting four years to the day of the last game played in the series.  The Mids posted a 77-58 victory in that game which was played in Annapolis.  The teams last me in Baltimore five seasons ago.
2 – A victory Monday would give Navy the program's first 3-0 start to a season since the 1998-99 campaign.
3 – Coppin State's roster includes seven players from last year's team and seven newcomers.  Six of the newcomers have totaled 16 seasons of college basketball prior to this year.
4 – Navy has posted a 189-74 record against teams located in Maryland.
5 –
Kam Summers (both games) and
Nate Allison (Princeton) have each made the first start of their respective careers this season.Â
Last Game - Navy 74, Princeton 73
•   Princeton took a 9-2 lead.  Navy went on a 37-7 run to take a 39-16 lead.
•   Navy shot 72 percent from the field in opening up a 46-26 lead at the break.
•   Princeton began the second half with a 20-4 run to close to within 50-46.  Navy slowly gained a double-digit lead again at 57-46 and soon held a 64-50 lead with seven minutes left.
•   Back came the Tigers and it was a 66-64 game with three minutes still to play.  Austin Begnini made two free throws, but Ryan Langborg hit a three to make the score 68-67 with 1:54 left.
•   A jumper by Begnini and a triple by
Patrick Dorsey pushed the lead out to 66-61 with 55 seconds left. Â The Mids then led 74-70 with 26 seconds remaining. Â
•   Princeton cut the deficit down to one point with 3.6 seconds left on a triple from Matt Allocco. Â
Sean Yoder was fouled with 3.3 seconds still to play. He missed the first foul shot and intentionally missed the second. Â His halfcourt attempt was just wide at the buzzer.
•   Princeton held an 11-3 edge in offensive rebounds and a 14-0 advantage in second chance points.

Sean Yoder scored a career-high 20 points for Navy.
About Navy
•   Navy returns two starters, five letter winners and 19 players from last year's team.  There are seven freshmen on the squad.
•   The Mids posted a 21-11 overall record and, with a 12-6 record, placed second in the Patriot League.  The Mids advanced to the championship game of the Patriot League Tournament for the first time since the 2001 event.
•   Navy placed fourth in the 2022-23 Patriot League Preseason Poll.
About Coppin State
•   Coppin State posted an 11-16 record a year ago and tied for sixth place in the MEAC with a 6-8 record.  The Eagles would advance to the championship game of the MEAC Tournament.
•   Coppin State was picked to place fifth in the MEAC this season.
•   The Eagles opened the 2022-23 season with an 82-59 less at Charlotte.  Less than 24 hours later, they lost a 99-89 overtime decision at Georgetown.  Coppin State earned its first win of the season Saturday when it defeated Mount St. Mary's, 83-78, at home.
Navy Experience
•   Navy returns 19 players from last season, a group that has totaled 37 seasons of college basketball at Navy and 38 years of college basketball overall. Â
•   There are an additional seven freshmen on the team who are entering their first season of college basketball.
Navy-Coppin State Series
•   Navy has posted a 3-1 record against Coppin State in the series that didn't begin until the 2009-10 season.
•   The teams have split the two prior games that have been played in Baltimore, with the most recent taking place five seasons ago.
•   Navy won the last game played between the teams, a 77-58 win exactly four years ago in Annapolis.
Navy vs. MEAC
•   Navy has posted a 16-11 record against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference. Â
•   The Mids last played MEAC teams during the 2018-19 season when the faced Coppin State and Morgan State.
•   Coppin State is the only MEAC team Navy is playing this season.
Coppin State vs. Patriot League
•   Coppin State has compiled an 8-10 record against teams currently in the Patriot League.
•   The Tigers also will play Loyola this season.Â
•   Coppin State also played Loyola during the 2021-22 season.
