NORFOLK, Va. – Senior sailor Gavin McJones' 12th-place finish on Sunday the Navy intercollegiate sailing team concluded its fall season this weekend with the ICSA Men's Singlehanded Championship in Norfolk, Virginia.
 
Hosted by Old Dominion University, McJones was selected to the championship field that included the top 18 men's singlehanded sailors in the country competing for the Glen S. Foster Trophy.
 
An unseasonably warm weekend featured winds that ranged at 5-20 knots from the south-southeast, as the puffy winds and deep fleet made consistency hard to come by, as small mistakes were met with dire results. Like the rest of the 18-man field, McJones was up and down and found himself unable to build momentum over the course of the weekend's races, eventually winding up 12th overall.
 
Sunday marked the end of Navy's fall competition, with the team returning to the water in late January for its spring season.
