ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Following its first loss of the spring dual season, the Navy women's tennis team returns to action seeking a bounce-back effort Saturday as it welcomes Brown and George Mason to the Tose Family Tennis Center.

The Mids will take on the Patriots at 10 a.m. followed by a match against the Bears at 2 p.m. Free, live results for both matches will be available via NavySports.com.

COVID-19 POLICY
As per Department of Defense regulations, those who have not been vaccinated against COVID-19 must wear a face mask at all times when on the grounds of the Brigade Sports Complex. Those who have been vaccinated have the option to wear a mask while outdoors, but must wear a mask while indoors.

ALL-TIME SERIES
Over 10 all-time meetings against George Mason, Navy has a perfect 10-0 record that includes outscoring the Patriots, 58-10, over that span. Saturday's contest between Navy and Brown will be the first all-time meeting between the two programs.

LAST TIME OUT
Over two matches last weekend, the Midshipmen posted a 1-1 record that included a 6-1 win over George Washington, followed by a 7-0 loss to Delaware. The loss to the Blue Hens snapped the second-longest winning streak to open a season in program history.

The duo of
Katreina Corpuz (Sr., Ewa Beach, Hawai'i) and
Emily Tannenbaum (Fr., Commack, N.Y.) led the Mids to a win over the Colonials by earning victory at the No. 2 doubles match (6-2) over Charlotte Bell and Lindsay Thompson prior to earning victories in their respective singles matches. Corpuz defeated Thompson at the No. 4 position (6-2, 7-6) while Tannenbaum downed Katarina Marinkovikj (6-0, 6-1) at the No. 2 spot.

LEADING THE CHARGE: Leading the way for the Midshipmen through their first eight matches of the dual season is the trio of Tannenbaum,
Sylvia Eklund (Fr., Bellevue, Wash.) and
Jillian Taggart (Jr., Fair Oaks, Calif.).

Tannenbaum leads the team in singles victories this season with a 15-7 record while Eklund and Taggart have 13 wins apiece in singles competition this season.Â

TOP-TANDEMS: The pairing of Corpuz and
Meghana Komarraju (Sr., Vienna, Va.) have won seven-consecutive doubles matches for an overall mark of 10-5 this season, the most wins by a pairing on the team this season. Ranking second behind Corpuz and Komarraju is the duo of
Samantha Johns (So., Simpsonville, S.C.) and
Kacey Moore (Sr., Wellington, Fla.) who have won four-straight contests for a stellar 8-1 record on the 2021-22 season.

WINNING WAYS: Despite seeing their seven-match win streak come to an end Sunday against Delaware, the Midshipmen are off to one of the best starts to a season in program history. The aforementioned winning streak ranked as the second-longest such streak to open a season in program history, in addition to marking just the third time that the Mids have opened a season with a winning streak of five or more matches (2012, 2020, 2022).

RECORD CHECK: Following her singles victory over George Washington's Alexandra Vesikallio (3-0, Retired), Moore moved into sole possession of eighth place on the Navy women's tennis singles wins leaders list at 61 career victories. Next up for Moore is Ansofi Wreder (2016-19) who is currently seventh on the list with 62 wins. Erin Snook (2010-14) is the Mids all-time singles wins leader with 92 career victories.

LAST TIME OUT: Last time out, George Mason dropped a 7-0 decision to William & Mary at home. George Mason was swept in singles competition after picking up its lone victory of the day in doubles at the No. 2 position as Savanna Crowell and Francesca Trella combined to earn a 6-4 win over the W&M pairing of Raffaela Alhach and Elisa Van Meeteren.

TOP-PERFORMERS: On the 2021-22 season, Crowell has tallied the most victories in singles competition for the Patriots with an 8-8 mark followed by the trio of Paige La, Jackie Nannery and Lauren Splett with six wins apiece. The most successful doubles team for George Mason this season has been the pairing of Crowell and Nannery with a 4-3 record, while Grace Hashiguchi and Emily Wirt have also tallied four wins over their 10 appearances.

LAST TIME OUT: Brown is coming off a 4-1 victory over Yale that took place on the final day of the ECAC Indoor Championships hosted in Ithaca, N.Y. The Bears collected the doubles point after earning victories at the No. 1 and No. 3 positions, highlighted by a 6-2 victory by the pairing of Gabrielle Dellacono and Olivia Mariotti. In singles, Brown won five of the six contests including straight-set victories at the No. 2, No. 4 and No. 6 positions.

TOP-PERFORMERS: Through the Bears first seven matches, Britany Lau has seen the most action as the No. 1 singles position. Lau has posted a record of 5-2 including winning three of her last four matches at the top singles spot for Brown. Ali Bendetto and Lindsey Hofflander have lead the way for Brown at the top spot in doubles competition, including earning a 6-2 victory against Syracuse last time out. Â

Following its twin bill against Brown and George Mason, Navy will return to action Feb. 27 as it welcomes Dartmouth and Fairleigh Dickinson to the Tose Family Tennis Center. Action is slated to get underway against the Big Green at 10 a.m. followed by a tilt against the Knights at 2 p.m.
