ANNAPOLIS, Md. - Following a standout performance against rival Army in the annual Star Meet, the victorious Navy gymnastics team was recognized on both the conference and national level as Isaiah Drake and Connor Van Loo were honored with a trio of awards. Drake was voted by the College Gymnastics Association as the National Gymnast of the Week, as well as the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Gymnast of the Week. Van Loo joined his teammate in the ECAC's weekly announcement as he was named the conference's Specialist of the Week.

Competing for a Star for the first time in his career against service academy rival Army, Drake (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) relished the added pressure and dominated all meet with an all-around score of 82.15 and first place results on the floor exercise (14.0), parallel bars (13.55) and high bar (13.3). That all-around score is the second-highest by any collegiate gymnast this season. Additionally, he was second on both the pommel horse (13.7) and vault (14.55), and fifth on the rings (13.05).

Drake has now collected two CGA Gymnast of the Week honors as he was previously selected as a co-recipient on Jan. 27, 2022. In terms of ECAC honors, he's earned accolades in all four weeks of action with two Rookie of the Week nods and two more Gymnast of the Week awards.

Suiting up in the floor exercise and vault lineups for Navy on Saturday against Army, Van Loo (Jr., Freeland, Mich.) turned in a pair of high-level results. The junior nailed his vault with a 9.7 execution score and a 0.1 bonus for a total score of 14.6. That effort is the ninth-highest by any collegiate gymnast in 2022 and best by an ECAC gymnast. Additionally, he placed third on the floor exercise with a 13.4 score.

Individually, this is Van Loo's sixth career ECAC weekly honor as he was selected five times as the league's Rookie of the Week during the 2020 season.

Navy will be back in action this weekend at the All-Academy Championship. Hosted in Dallas, Texas, the service academy tri-meet between Air Force, Army and Navy is scheduled for 8 p.m. (ET).
