Duo led Navy to a second-place finish on Saturday at Air Force

DANBURY, Conn. - Coming off high-scoring efforts in their final regular season competition on Saturday, the duo of Isaiah Drake (Fr., Los Angeles, Calif.) and Josh Williams (Sr., Cypress, Texas) were announced on Tuesday as the Eastern College Athletic Conference's Gymnast and Specialist of the Week. Drake and Williams played leading roles in the Mids' second-place result in a tri-meet that Air Force hosted versus Navy and Illinois at the Academy's Cadet West Gym. As a team, Navy turned its second-highest score of the 2022 season with 397.1 points.

Drake was a standout for the Mids as he finished atop the individual standings on the vault and high bar. His vault score of 15.0 is tied for the fourth-highest in the NCAA this season and helped him clear his closest opponent by 0.4 points. He won the high bar by 0.1 points, 13.65-13.55. Additionally, Drake placed top-10 on the rings (6th, 13.4 score) and the floor (8th, 14.1). Heading into postseason action, Drake stands sixth in the NCAA in the all-around (77.817 average), 19th on the vault (14.383 avg.) and 24th on the high bar (13.283).

Williams turned in a trio of routines that scored 14.2 or better on Saturday at Air Force's multi-team meet. Williams dominated the field on the rings with a 0.7-point margin of victory courtesy of his 14.4 score. That effort ties his career-high and is the fourth-highest score on the rings in the NCAA this year. Williams' floor exercise score of 14.3 was sixth-best in the field. With a pair of postseason championship events on the docket before next month's NCAA Championship, Williams is ranked second overall in the NCAA with a 14.217 scoring average on the rings. He's 0.05 points shy of Thomas Lee of Stanford, the nation's leading scorer on the rings.

This is the seventh weekly honor of 2022 for Drake and second for Williams. All-time, Williams has earned four weekly awards from the ECAC.
