#22 Women’s Lacrosse Continues League Play at Colgate

Opening draw between the Midshipmen and the Raiders is slated for 1:00 p.m.

ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The No. 22 Navy women's lacrosse team (9-2, 3-0 Patriot League) continues Patriot League play with a road game against Colgate (2-9, 1-2) on Saturday afternoon at 1:00 p.m. at Crown Field at Andy Kerr Stadium in Hamilton, N.Y. The game will be broadcast on ESPN+ and live stats will be available.
 
Scouting the Midshipmen
The No. 22 Midshipmen enter the weekend 9-2 on the season, including a 3-0 mark in Patriot League play. Nine different Midshipmen scored goals in a 17-5 victory over Lafayette on Wednesday to remain undefeated in the Patriot League.
 
Offensively, Navy has tallied 216 points on 151 goals and 65 assists in 11 games. The Mids have had a balanced attack this season. Of the 18 players who have scored points, 10 have been upperclassmen (juniors / seniors) and eight have been underclassmen (freshmen / sophomores). Through 11 games, the upperclassmen have registered 88 goals, accounting for 58.3% of the goals scored, while the underclassmen have tallied 63 scores. The upperclassmen have accounted for 60.6% of the points scored with 66.2% of the team's assists.
 
The Mids are led by Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.), Leelee Denton (Nashville, Tenn.), Charlotte Ryan (Tully, N.Y.), Kasey Dietzel (Warrington, Pa.), Gil Eby (Towson, Md.), and Lindsay Beardmore (Annapolis, Md.).
 
Roelofs paces the offense with a team-high 37 points on a team-best 26 goals and 11 assists. Denton, Ryan, and Dietzel are next with 26 points apiece. Denton has 21 goals and five assists, while Ryan has added 20 scores and six helpers. Dietzel has a team-best 12 assists, while chipping in 14 goals. Eby (18g 5a) and Beardmore (13g 9a) round out Navy's 20-point performers with 23 and 22 points, respectively.
 
The Mids picked up 216 ground balls, won 162 draw controls, caused 78 turnovers, and tallied 101 saves.
 
Christine Fiore (Darian, Conn.) has grabbed a team-high 25 ground balls, while Eby adds 23 GBs. Alexis Bell (Johns Creek, Ga.) and Grace Loughery (Perkasie, Pa.) have added 21 and 20 ground balls. Roelofs leads the team with 54 draw controls, while Dietzel is second with 43. Bell and Loughery lead the team with 11 caused turnovers each, while Fiore and Erin Carson (New Albany, Ohio) have added nine and eight CT, respectively.
 
Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) leads the team with 88 of Navy's 101 saves in just under 590 minutes of action. Torres has earned eight victories with a 52.1 save percentage. She is joined by Emma Richardell (Bethesda, Md.) who has 13 stops in just over 65 minutes of action.
 
Scouting the Opponent
Colgate enters the week 2-9 overall and 1-2 in the Patriot League. The Raiders opened up conference play with a victory over Boston University (W, 13-7) before dropping contests to Army (L, 20-12) and Bucknell (L, 15-14).
 
This season, the Raiders have amassed 162 points on 112 goals and 50 assists in 11 games. Colgate has won 192 draw controls with 167 ground balls and 78 caused turnovers. Raiders' goalies have combined for 108 saves in 11 contests with 162 goals allowed with a 40.0 save percentage and 14.75 goals against average.
 
Kyra Lucey leads Colgate with 29 points on a team-high 16 goals with a team-best 13 assists. Catie Lang is second on the team with 25 points on 16 goals and nine helpers, while Devon Maillet rounds out the Raiders' 20-point performers with 20 points on 14 goals and six assists.
 
At goal, Amelia Cunningham and Kieran Gerow have split starts. Cunningham has played in 10 games with five starts, while Gerow has played and started six games. Cunningham has logged 361 minutes between the pipes with a team-high 63 saves and 87 goals allowed for a 14.44 goals against average, while Gerow has tallied 263 minutes with 39 stops and 66 goals allowed for a 15.06 GAA.
 
All-Time Series
The game marks the 18th meeting between the two teams and the 10th competition in Hamilton. Navy holds a 13-4 (.765) overall record against Colgate, including a 6-3 mark in Hamilton. The Midshipmen have won six in a row against the Raiders and 13 of the last 14 meetings.
 
Last season, the two teams met with Navy posting a 12-5 victory in Annapolis. The game served as the Midshipmen's Senior Day. All 11 senior players from the Class of 2021 were able to enter the game, combining for eight points on seven goals and one assist with 11 ground balls, seven caused turnovers, two draw controls, and a pair of saves.
 
The last game in Hamilton saw the Midshipmen post an 18-6 win over the Raiders in 2019. Navy outscored Colgate 11-2 in the second half to pick up the 12-point victory. Leading by three, the Mids used a 9-0 run to close the game and cruise to victory.
 
National Rankings
The ILWomen / IWLCA Division I Poll was officially announced on Monday morning and the Navy women's lacrosse team remained ranked in the national poll. The Mids enter the week ranked No. 22. The Mids have been ranked four consecutive weeks this season. In its history, Navy has been ranked 67 total weeks, including a streak of 47 consecutive weeks from the final poll of the 2017 season (May 30, 2017) to April 12, 2021. In addition, the Midshipmen are receiving votes according to the US Lacrosse rankings.

The No. 22 Navy women's lacrosse team posted a 17-5 road victory over Lafayette on Wednesday night at Fisher Stadium in Easton, Pa. Nine different Midshipmen scored goals in the game, including seven who notched multiple scores.
 
Offensively, the Midshipmen had nine different players score goals in the game, including seven who notched multiple goals in the game. Reagan Roelofs (Apple Valley, Minn.) led all scorers with five points on three goals and a pair of assists. It was the sixth consecutive game with a hat trick for the offensive captain. Leelee Denton (Nashville, Tenn.), Kasey Dietzel (Warrington, Pa.), Gil Eby (Towson, Md.), Lola Leone (Bay Shore, N.Y.), Charlotte Ryan (Tully, N.Y.), and Isabelle Thornburg (Alexandria, Va.) added two scores apiece, while Lindsay Beardmore (Annapolis, Md.) and Bobbie Haney (Woodbine, Md.) rounded out the scoring with a goal each.
 
Defensively, Navy caused eight of Lafayette's 12 turnovers in the game. Seven different Mids had caused turnovers with Haney leading the way with two.
 
At goal, Jo Torres (Prince Frederick, Md.) earned the victory logging a majority of minutes between the pipes. The sophomore surrendered just five goals in 55 minutes of action with nine saves. She gave way to Emma Richardell (Bethesda, Md.) who worked five scoreless minutes with a pair of saves.
