Track and Field Posts Strong Outing at Larry Ellis Invitational

The Midshipmen combined for nine top-10 performances in Navy history.

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Navy track and field team combined for 45 IC4A / ECAC qualifying times / marks at the Larry Ellis Invitational over the weekend at Princeton's Weaver Track and Field Stadium. The men's team tallied 25 IC4A qualifiers, while the women added 20 ECAC performances. In addition, the Midshipmen combined for nine top-10 performances in Navy history.
 
"It was a pretty good weekend," Director of Navy Track and Field / Cross Country Jamie Cook said of the meet. "We had a lot of good performances over the weekend. Our women's distance team did phenomenal. Across the board, just a phenomenal job by them. On the men's side, we did some really good things as well. We ran pretty competitive times in a lot of events. Just pretty solid across the board."
 
On the women's side, the Midshipmen put together seven top-10 performances in program history.
 
Emily Boutin (Chicopee, Mass.) posted the second-fastest time in school history in the 5,000m run in Friday's seeded race, clocking a time of 16.40.42. In the race, Winter Boese (Clark, Colo.) notched the third fastest time in Navy history (16:45.87).
 
Senior captain Katie Halbert (Keller, Texas) registered two of the three fastest performances in the 100m hurdles. In the prelims, Halbert crossed the finish line with the third fastest time in school history (13.84). She recorded the ninth-best time during the finals with a time of 14.04.
 
Freshman Carolyn Thurlby (Overland Park, Kan.) finished the 3,000m steeplechase with a time of 10:52.26, which is the ninth fastest in the school's annals.
 
In the high jump, Hannah Lowenstein (Pompano Beach, Fla.) bested her pervious personal record jump by a centimeter to clear 1.74m (5-08.50) in the event for the third-best jump in Navy history.
 
Sami Bollinger (Temecula, Calif.), who set the school record in the triple jump to start the month, etched her name in the record books once again with the 10th-best distance in school history with a triple jump performance of 12.00m (39-04.50).
 
Navy posted a pair of top-10 performances all-time on the men's side.
 
Brahmir Vick (Middletown, Del.) clocked a 14.07 in the 110m hurdles to register the ninth fastest performance in school history.
 
The long jump saw Caden Dailey (Centreville, Va.) record a distance of 7.61m (24-11.75), finishing half an inch shy of tying the school record in the event.
 
In addition to the nine top-10 performances, the Midshipmen put together 45 IC4A / ECAC qualifying performances.
 
The men's team combined for 25 IC4A qualifiers in the 100m, 200m, 400m, 800m (2x), 1,500m (2x), 5,000m, 110m hurdles (2x), 3,000m steeplechase (3x), 4x100m relay (2x), pole vault (3x), long jump, shot put (2x), hammer throw (2x), and javelin (2x); while the women's team notched 20 ECAC qualifiers in the 200m, 800m, 1,500m (3x), 5,000m (3x), 100m hurdles (3x), 400m hurdles, 3,000m steeplechase, 4x100m relay, 4x400m relay, high jump, triple jump, discus, hammer throw, and javelin.
