ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's soccer team will welcome Marymount University on Tuesday in its third non-conference game of the 2022 season. The action between the Mids (1-0-1) and the Saints (0-0) is set for 5 p.m. at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. Live stats will be available for the contest.

Gallagher Named Patriot League Goalkeeper and NAAA Athlete of the Week
Coming off of an undefeated 1-0-1 week of play to kick off the 2022 season, the Mids received more good news on Monday as junior goalkeeper Mattie Gallagher (Gilbertsville, Pa.) was selected for honors from both the Patriot League and the NAAA. For backstopping Navy to consecutive shutouts, Gallagher was named the Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Week, as well as the NAAA Athlete of the Week presented by Northrop Grumman. Gallagher's first clean sheet came in the season opener when she turned aside three shots on goal by The Citadel in Navy's 2-0 victory on Thursday night. She closed her week on Sunday with 90 minutes of shutout soccer versus Western Carolina. Though only making one save against the Catamounts, Gallagher came through in the clutch as she stopped a penalty kick in the 81st minute to preserve the 0-0 decision. With those two shutouts this past weekend, Gallagher now has nine in her career through just 30 games. This honor from the Patriot League is the sixth of her career as she was previously noted for her excellence on March 30, 2021, April 7, 2021, Aug. 30, 2021, Oct. 18, 2021 and Oct. 25, 2021.

This is the first-ever meeting between the two schools that are separate by less than 50 miles ... The Saints compete as a member of the Atlantic East Conference in the NCAA Division III ... Last season, Marymount finished third in the Atlantic East with a 4-2 record in conference play.

Last Time Out: August 21 vs. Western Carolina
The Navy women's soccer team continued its strong run of defensive play to start the 2022 season with a 0-0 draw versus Western Carolina on Sunday afternoon at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. The Mids (1-0-1) and the Catamounts (0-0-2) battled for 90 minutes in a matchup that was contested for the majority of the time in the midfield and as such scoring opportunities were few and far between. Goalkeepers from both teams came through in the clutch late in the game to ensure the tie.
 
Navy's junior goalkeeper Mattie Gallagher left her mark on the ultra-competitive match with a penalty kick save in the 81st minute.

The play of the game came in the 81st minute when Gallagher made her first and only save of the contest. Western Carolina's Rea Syska calmly lined up to take a penalty shot and put the ball on goal, but it wasn't far enough to the lower right corner as Gallagher leapt off her line and pushed aside the shot.

In the 0-0 draw, Navy outshot Western Carolina, 9-5 with a 2-1 edge in shots on goal. The Mids held a slight advantage in corner kicks, 3-2.

As a unit, Navy's defense has posted 180 minutes of scoreless action over the first weekend of the 2022 season.

Fans are reminded that the general public does not have access to drive their vehicles on to the U.S. Naval Academy. Fans may park at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium for a fee and take a shuttle that will run every 10 minutes starting one hour before the game and will continue running until one hour after the game is completed. Fans 18 and over need a government-issued photo ID. Enter Gate 5 off Taylor Ave. to park at the stadium. Dogs are not permitted inside the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility. All soccer contests at the Glenn Warner Soccer Facility will be free of charge.
