ANNAPOLIS, Md. --
Jackson Schultz (Sr., Millersville, Md.) won the 100 breaststroke to highlight the efforts of the Navy swimming and diving teams Friday on the first day of a two-day, double-dual meet against Princeton and Notre Dame in Lejeune Hall.
Through 10 of the 19 events that will comprise the meet, Notre Dame leads Navy in both the men's (116-70) and women's meets (147-39) and Princeton holds leads over the Mids of 132-54 in the men's meet and 145-41 in the women's meet. The Irish also led the Tigers in both the men's (102-84) and women's (95-91) scoring.
The meet continues Saturday at noon. The team scores from today will carry over into tomorrow.
Schultz posted a time of 53.50 to win the race by 1.11 seconds over Princeton's Josh Brown. Placing third in the race was Navy's
James Lee (Sr., La Canada, Calif.) with a time of 54.90.
Navy swimmers placed second in each 200 freestyle race.
Cameron Horner (Jr., Hebron, Md.) recorded a time of 1:48.75 to finish in second place by a little more than two seconds behind women's winner Nikki Venema of Princeton, while
Everet Andrew (So., Wilmette, Ill.) touched the wall in a time of 1:36.88 to finish one second behind men's winner Mitchell Schott of Princeton.
Placing third in men's races were
Patrick Colwell (Jr., New Canaan, Conn.) in the 200 fly (1:46.42) and
Austin Lockhart (So., Fort Mills, S.C.) in the 50 free (20.34).
