LEWISBURG, Pa. --
Everet Andrew (So., Wilmette, Ill.) won a pair of events for the Navy men's swimming and diving team at the Bison Invitational, Saturday at Kinney Natatorium in Lewisburg, Pa.
The Navy team combined for seven wins, seven second-place finishes and six third-place showings in individual events, plus one more victory and a third-place finish in relay events during the non-scoring meet. The field was comprised of Navy, Bucknell, American, Lafayette, Lehigh, Shippensburg and UMBC.
Navy will return to Lewisburg for the Feb. 15-18 Patriot League Championship.
"We were very happy with this opportunity to have a lot of repetitions in the league championship venue," said Navy men's swimming head coach
Bill Roberts. "Having a lot of racing and the ability to compete today were the headlines for us. I felt good about our efforts as we continue to fine tune our future performances."
"Today was a good opportunity to see what we will be up against in a few weeks," said Navy diving coach
Rich MacDonald. "Our guys stepped up today. Hopefully we can carry this momentum into the league championship. I am excited to see them at the meet."
Andrew posted victories in the 500 free (4:31.08) and 50 free (20.46) races. Also winning swimming events were
Evan O'Dea (Fr., Brooklyn, N.Y.) in the 200 fly (1:52.61),
Josh Wurgler (Fr., Tallahassee, Fla.) in the 1650 free (15:53.44) and George Brooker (Fr., Carlsbad, Calif.) in the 200 back (1:51.64).
Navy swept the two diving events with
George Moore (Jr., New Canaan, Conn.) placing first on the one-meter board (354.10) and Zach Peng (So., Oakton, Va.) winning the three-meter event (310.60).
The Mids also won the 200 medley relay.
The first half of the meet saw
Patrick Colwell (Jr., New Canaan, Conn.) place second in the 200 IM (1:53.79),
Zach Stump (Fr., Westerville, Ohio)be the runner-up in the 500 free (4:33.14),
Richie Trentalange (Jr., Leonardo, N.J.) finish second in the 100 breast (56.10),
Jackson Schultz (Sr., Millersville, Md.) be the silver medalist in the 100 free (45.74) and
Anthony Sciulli (Fr., Powell, Ohio) place second in the one-meter board (32.25). Additional second-place finishes were recorded by Ben Stankovich (Fr., Dumfries, Va.) in the 200 back (1:53.48) and
James Lee (Sr., La Canada, Calif.) in the 200 breast (2:02.84).
