ANNAPOLIS, Md. – Led by freshman Emma Tang shooting the second-best 54-hole score in program history, the Navy women's golf team ended its fall season Sunday by tying for sixth at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational in Rehoboth Beach, Del.
 
Playing at the par-72, 6,169-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club, the Midshipmen shot a 56-over par 920 as a team, tying Columbia, with Navy posting a round of 311 to open the event Saturday before improving with rounds of 309 and 300 to finish off the tournament.
 
Harvard claimed the team title with a 16-over par 880 performance, while Alisa Khokhlova from tournament host Delaware was the individual medalist with a 2-under par 214 three-round score.
 
Tang used three-straight rounds of 72 to earn her weekend score of even-par 216, trailing only Khokhlova and fellow Delaware golfer Oihana Etxezarreta (1-under par 215) on the final leaderboard. Tang's three-round score is the second-best for a Navy golfer all-time, sitting only behind then-sophomore Bridget Hoang's 1-under par 215 at last year's Lady Blue Hen Invitational en route to a runner-up finish.
 
Fellow freshman Keira Howard had the next-best score for Navy, tying for 26th at 14-over par 230 (79-78-73), while senior Stephanie Lee (78-80-79) tied for 40th with a score of 21-over par 237. Hoang returned to Rehoboth Beach and finished tied for 51st, shooting a 23-over par 239 (84-79-76), and senior captain Mara Hirtle completed play tied for 54th at 25-over-par 241 (82-80-79).
 
Competing individually, sophomore Hallie Brisco (81-76-80) tied Lee for 40th at 21-over par 237, while fellow sophomore Sue Lee placed 62nd with a 31-over par 247 score (85-81-81) and freshman Una Johnson finished 66th with a 39-over par 255 performance (95-80-80).
 
This weekend marked the third-straight year that the Mids have competed in Delaware's Lady Blue Hen Invitational, with Navy finishing tied for sixth in back-to-back seasons.
