ANNAPOLIS, Md. – After finishing third at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational and putting herself in the program record book, Navy freshman
Emma Tang was named the Patriot League Women's Golfer of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday.
Posting the second-best 54-hole score in program history, the rookie used three-straight rounds of even-par 72 to earn her weekend score of even-par 216 at the Lady Blue Hen Invitational, placing third and trailing only Delaware golfers Alisa Khokhlova and Oihana Etxezarreta on the final player leaderboard. Playing at the par-72, 6,169-yard Rehoboth Beach Country Club, Tang helped the Midshipmen shoot 56-over par 920 as a team, tying Columbia for sixth place.
Tang's three-round score is the second-best for a Navy golfer all-time, sitting only behind
Bridget Hoang's 1-under par 215 at last year's Lady Blue Hen Invitational.
She is the second women's golfer to take home Patriot League Golfer of the Week honors this season, joining senior
Mara Hirtle on Oct. 4.
