Sprint Defeats Cornell for 400th Win in Program History

Navy notched a decisive 58-6 win over Cornell for the 400th victory in program history.

ITHACA, N.Y. – The Navy sprint football team (5-1) posted a dominant effort to defeat Cornell (0-5) at Schoellkopf Field in Ithaca, N.Y. on Friday evening. The 58-6 win was the 400th victory in Midshipmen history.

The Mids boast an all-time record of 400-75-9 for a winning percentage of .836.

"It was nice to get the 400th win tonight, but to be honest, we are a team that doesn't invest much in numbers," head coach Major Alfonso Meidus, USMC said after the game. "The legacy of this program is built on the foundation of culture and playing for something vastly more meaningful than a win or the score on the scoreboard. We play this game for the love of competition and for those who have worn the uniform well before we ever stepped foot on the field. We owe everything to those who have come before us and that passion is what keeps the culture thriving."
