ANNAPOLIS, Md. - The Navy women's rowing program will put the finishing touches on its fall competitive schedule on Sunday afternoon with action at the 2023 Rivanna Romp in Earlysville, Va. starting at 12-noon. A national field of six talented programs will compete in head-style time trial racing on a 4,000-meter stretch of the Rivanna Reservoir near the University of Virginia campus. Navy will be racing on Sunday in Varsity Eight, Varsity Four and Novice Eight events against crews from Duke, Louisville, Minnesota, North Carolina and Virginia.
The entire schedule of racing for the Mids on Sunday consists of five entries in the 12-noon Varsity Eights event, four in the 1:30 p.m. Varsity Fours competition and three more in the Novice Eights contest at 1:45 p.m.
At last year's 2022 Rivanna Romp, Navy's fleet turned in four top-10 results, including a third-place finish by the Mids' top novice eight crew. In the Varsity Eights competition, Navy's first and second varsity crews placed sixth and ninth, respectively. Among the first varsity-only crews, Navy's A boat was third overall behind perennial powers Virginia and Duke.
Free parking is available for Sunday's racing at the Thomas Temple Allan Boathouse on the west bank of the Rivanna Reservoir. The boathouse is the closest point spectators can see the boats along the 4,000-meter course.
