Busy Week Ahead for Navy Squash Program

After playing five matches this past weekend in Annapolis, the 25th-ranked Navy squash team (5-1) will play another three matches over the next five days. The Mids kick off the week on Wednesday evening with a pivotal Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference matchup against #27 Dickinson (1-2) beginning at 5:30 pm. Navy will then play a pair of matches at the home site of Penn where it will face the nation's top-ranked team in the Penn Quakers (3-0) on Friday at 6:00 pm before closing out the two-day trip with an 11:00 am match on Sunday against Bates (0-0), who is ranked 22nd.

Admission is free to all Navy squash matches. A reminder to fans planning on attending matches, vehicular access to the Naval Academy is limited to those with a Department of Defense identification card. It is suggested that fans park downtown and walk through the main gate. Please note that a government issued identification card must be carried and presented at the gate.

Weekly Rewind
• Seven of Navy's 9 players went undefeated on the weekend, including Lucas Spiro, Matthew Kang and Ramsay Killinger who paced the team with 5-0 marks.
• Team captain Henry Sparkman and Alexander Orr, Tighe Mullarkey and Sean Wu were 4-0, while Matt Wang finished the weekend with a 4-1 record and Holden Woodward was 3-1.
• Not only did the Midshipmen capture their first win of the season on Friday night with a 9-0 sweep against Fordham, Navy's rookies - Matthew Kang, Sean Wu, Ramsay Killinger and Holden Woodward - all earned their first-collegiate victories.
• The Mids surrendered just two individual matches among the 40 played and just 8 games out of 122.

About the Opponents
• Navy has produced a combined 54-68 all-time record against its three opponents, posting winning records against both Dickinson and Bates.
Dickinson
• Navy owns an 12-3 record against Dickinson in a series that first began in 1961. The Mids and Red Devils played four times between 1961-64 before picking up the series once again in 2014.
• Dickinson defeated the Mids for the first time in series history by a 5-4 count at the 2022 MASC Championship.
• The two programs met 3 times a year ago with Navy earning an 8-1 win in November. Dickinson beat Navy 5-4 at the MASC Championship and by the same count at the CSA Team Championship. The Mids were playing a man down in both losses.
• Dickinson owns a 1-2 records, dropping 9-0 decision to #19 Franklin & Marshall and #1 Penn before scoring an 8-1 win against Haverford last Sunday.

Penn
• In a series that began in 1949, Penn owns a decisive 51-27 series advantage over Navy.
• The Quakers have won the last 18 matches against Navy, as the Mids last win in the series was a 6-3 victory at Penn on Jan. 17, 2001.
• Saturday's match will mark the first meeting between the two programs since Nov. 19, 2017 when the Quakers scored a 7-2 victory in Annapolis.
• Penn currently stands 3-0 with wins over #19 Franklin & Marshall (8-1), #27 Dickinson (9-0) and #6 Drexel (7-2), but will face #13 Western (Friday, 4:30 pm) and #7 Virginia (Saturday, 2:00 pm) prior to its match against Navy.

Bates
• Navy and Bates have met on 29 previous occasions dating back to 1989 with the Mids holding a slight 15-14 advantage.
• Bates picked up a 6-3 win over Navy last December in what marked the Mids' first of 21-consecutive matches in which they played a man down.
• Bates has won 2 in a row against Navy with the Mids' last win in the series coming by way of a 7-2 victory at the 2017 CSA Team Championship.
• Bates will open its season on Saturday with a 1:00 pm match at #19 Franklin & Marshall.

What's Ahead
• Navy will step aside for the Thanksgiving break before returning to the courts Dec. 1 and 3 for a pair of neutral site matches.
• The Mids will travel to Washington, D.C. to play #28 Wesleyan on Dec. 1 at 6:30 pm before making the trip to Charlottesville, Va. to battle Mid-Atlantic Squash Conference foe #16 MIT on Dec. 3 at 10:00 am.
