Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy is making its 10th trip to California and first since the 2010-11 season.
2 – Saturday's game will be the second for UC San Diego against a Patriot League team. Last year's game in Annapolis between the Mids and the Tritons was the first.

• Navy (0-2) opens a two-game trip to Southern California with a Saturday (7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT) game at UC San Diego (3-0).

Last Game
• Navy lost its home opener, 75-68, to Temple in the 10th edition of the Veterans Classic on Nov. 10.
• The Mids fell behind by as many as 17 points (43-26) early in the second half, but were able to close to as few as three points (71-68) with 30 seconds remaining.
• The Owls were 4-4 from the foul line in the closing seconds of the game to secure the win.
• Temple outrebounded Navy, 38-35, and had a 16-10 edge in second chance points,
• The Owls also forced 14 turnovers while committing just eight.

Donovan Draper totaled 12 rebounds, nine points, four steals and three assists.

Austin Benigni led the Mids in scoring with 13 points.
About UC San Diego
• UCSD complied an overall record of 10-20 last season, its final year of reclassification from the NCAA Division II to Division I levels, and placed ninth in the 11-team Big West Conference with a 5-13 record.
• The Tritons placed ninth in this year's Big West Conference Preseason Poll.
• UCSD has opened this season with three wins, all of which have come at home. The Tritons recorded a 95-87 win over Denver, a 69-63 win over San Diego and a 116-57 victory over NCAA Division III La Verne.
Navy-UCSD Series
• Last year saw the playing of the inaugural game between the teams.
• Navy posted a 78-69 overtime victory in Alumni Hall, exactly one year ago from the date of this year's game.
• UCSD was just the second California team to play a game in Annapolis (Stanford, Dec. 22, 1995).
Navy vs. Big West
• Navy has played three games against current members of the Big West Conference.
• Prior to facing the Tritons last year, Mids lost a 95-88 game at Hawaii on Dec. 27, 1991, and dropped a 75-60 game at UC Irvine on Nov. 19, 2010.
UCSD vs. Patriot League
• Last year's Navy-UCSD game marked the first game for the Tritons against a team currently in the Patriot League.
Volleyball Was There First
• Saturday marks the first time the Navy men's basketball team will be playing in LionTree Arena.
• However, they are the second Navy team to play in the venue.
• The Navy volleyball team played three matches at UC San Diego Sept. 8-9, 2023. The Mids posted 3-0 wins over Denver, UCSD and San Diego State.
