DALLAS, Texas—No. 25 SMU (10-2, 8-0 in the American Athletic Conference) moved to within one step of winning the American Athletic Conference championship with a 59-14 victory over Navy (5-6, 4-4 in the AAC) on Saturday in front of 21,490 fans at Ford Field in Dallas.
SMU will play at Tulane next Saturday in the AAC Championship game, while Navy has two weeks to prepare for Army and the annual Army-Navy Game presented by USAA in Foxborough, Mass.
The Mustangs were unstoppable in the first half, jumping out to a 52-14 lead. The Mustangs scored 28 points in the first quarter and 24
th in the second, while outgaining Navy 452-112.
SMU quarterback Preston Stone completed 14 of his 19 passes for 322 yards and 3 touchdowns before leaving midway through the second quarter with an injury.
Navy's only first half points came on a one-yard touchdown run by

Eli Heidenreich recovered a muffed SMU punt at the one-yard line in the first quarter and a 69-yard touchdown run by freshman quarter
Braxton Woodson in the second quarter.
The only points in the second half were a 74-yard interception return for a touchdown by SMU safety Isaiah Nwokobia.
