Five Starting Notes
1 – Navy is beginning its 117th season of basketball.
2 – The only time the Mids have played a game on an earlier date in the calendar than Nov. 6 was when they played at George Mason on Nov. 5, 2019.  The lone prior Navy game occurring on Nov. 6 was in 2018 (at Old Dominion).
3 – Campbell is playing its first game as a member of the Coastal (formerly Colonial) Athletic Association.  Navy was a founding member of the CAA.
4 – The teams are meeting for the third time and first since the 1984-85 season.  That year's Mids won the ECAC South Conference (what became the CAA the next year) Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Tournament during David Robinson's junior season.
5 – The game will be Navy's 60th in North Carolina and the first since playing in a three-day tournament at High Point in November 2016.

About Campbell
•   Campbell posted an overall record of 16-18 last season and placed seventh in the 10-team Big South Conference regular season with an 8-10 record.  The Fighting Camels advanced to the championship game of the conference tournament.
•   Campbell moved to the Coastal (formerly Colonial) Athletic Association for the 2023-24 season.
•   Campbell placed 12th in this year's 14-team CAA Preseason Poll.
Navy-Campbell Series
•   Navy has won both prior games with Campbell.
•   The teams first met in Annapolis on Feb. 13, 1984.  The Mids came away with an 85-61 win that day behind 19 points -- on 9-10 shooting -- from sophomore reserve David Robinson, who played just 16 minutes.
•   Just over one year later, Navy traveled to play at Campbell in a game taking place in nearby Fayetteville, N.C.  The Mids won by a nearly identical score, 84-63.  Robinson scored 20 points, but he was outshone by Vernon Butler who made 14-18 foul shots on his way to scoring 28 points.
Navy / Campbell CAA History
•   Campbell will be playing its first game as a member of the Coastal Athletic Association Monday night.
•   Navy was a founding member of the Colonial Athletic Association.
•   The affiliation was known as the ECAC South Conference for four seasons (1981-82 through 1984-85) before becoming the CAA.
•   Navy played in three-straight conference tournament title games (1984-86), winning the 1985 and '86 editions of the event to advance to the NCAA Tournament both seasons.  The '86 team reached the Elite Eight.
•   The Mids competed in the affiliation for a total of 10 seasons, with their last being the 1990-91 campaign.

•   Navy has posted a 101-57 record against teams currently in the Coastal Athletic Association. Â

•   The Mids played CAA teams William & Mary and Towson last season.  Navy defeated the Tribe, 74-59, and the Tigers, 71-69 in overtime.

•   Traditionally held on or around the Veterans Day holiday weekend, the event pays tribute to veterans of all our armed forces.
•   The teams immerse themselves in the USNA on Thursday through tours of ship simulators, helicopters, and ships.  They then eat lunch in King Hall with members of the Brigade of Midshipmen.
