Five Starting Notes
1 – Coppin State returns to Alumni Hall for the first time in five seasons and third time overall.
2 – Coppin State defeated Navy last season, 75-68.  The Mids return five players who played in that game and who totaled 19 points and the Eagles return three players who played in the game and tallied 20 points.  Justin Winston is the top returning scorer from last year for Coppin State (12 points) and Kam Summers is the leading returning scorer for Navy (10 points).
3 – Navy ranks 322nd nationally with an adjusted tempo of 65.5 possessions per game (KenPom.com) and Coppin State ranks 336th with an average of 64.9 possessions per game.
4 – Navy outscored VMI in all five specialty statistics: points after turnovers (22-10), points in the paint (34-18), second-chance points (16-5), fastbreak points (12-0) and bench points (27-6).  The Mids won all five specialty statistics only twice during the 2022-23 season (UC San Diego, Holy Cross).    
5 – Donovan Draper recorded five steals Wednesday against VMI.  The last Mid to tally at least five steals in a game was Patrick Dorsey, who had five thefts against Boston U. on Jan.  26, 2022.  Draper is ranked 21st nationally this season (through games of Thursday, Nov. 30) with an average of 2.6 steals a game.

Game Information
•    Navy (1-4) closes a brief two-game homestand with a Sunday matinee (1:30 p.m.) against Coppin State (1-7).
•    ESPN+ will provide a video stream of the game.

•    The Navy women's team will play host to William & Mary at 11 a.m.

Accessing the USNA
•    Vehicle access to the USNA is limited to those with an approved ID card.  All others must park outside of the USNA.
•    Fans can park ($10 / vehicle) at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD, 21401) and ride the free shuttle bus. 
•    The shuttle bus service begins at 10 a.m. due to the women's game and ends four hours after the men's game begins.
•    Fans also can park downtown and walk through the gate one visitors center (52 King George St., Annapolis, MD, 21402).
•    Regardless of how one accesses the USNA, those ages 18 and over must have a government issued photo identification card, such as a driver's license, and visitors ages 17 and under who do not have a valid photo ID must be accompanied by an adult.

Last Game
•    Navy earned its first victory of the season as it defeated VMI, 67-47, Wednesday in Annapolis.
•    Navy used a 15-2 run to take a 24-9 lead with just under seven minutes left in the first half.
•    The Mids went on an 11-0 run early in the second half to build a 47-25 lead with 12 minutes still to play.  The lead remained at least 20 points for the final seven minutes.
•    Navy led VMI 12-0 in fastbreak points, 22-10 in points after turnovers and 16-5 in second-chance points.
•    Donovan Draper posted 15 points, nine rebounds and five steals.
•    Austin Benigni contributed 15 points, eight rebounds and four assists.

About Coppin State
•    Coppin State compiled an overall record of 9-23 last season and tied for sixth place in the eight-team Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference with a 4-10 record.
•    The Eagles placed seventh in this year's MEAC Preseason Poll.
•    Coppin State enters the game with a 1-7 record following the team's first win of the season Thursday at home against UMBC (89-70).
•    The Eagles have suffered losses to, among others, Virgina Tech, Towson, Mount St. Mary's and Louisville.

Navy-Coppin State Series
•    Sunday's game will be the sixth in the series that began on Dec. 30, 2009, when Navy defeated Coppin State, 78-75, in Annapolis.
•    The Mids lead the series, 3-2, and have won both prior games that have been played in Annapolis.
•    The Eagles won last year's meeting, 75-68, which was played in Baltimore.

•    Navy ranks seventh nationally in defensive three-point field goal percentage as opponents are shooting 24.3 percent from beyond the arc against the Mids. 
•    Navy ranks 351st (last) in the country in offensive three-point field goal percentage.  The Mids are making just 21.1 percent of their three-point field goal attempts.

Rebounding – Overall 
•    Navy has won the rebounding contest in 222 of the 366 games (60.7%) it has played under head coach Ed DeChellis.  The Mids have posted a very successful record (62.6%) during this time when they win the rebounding contest.
•    The Mids rank first in the Patriot League and 53rd nationally with an average of 13.2 offensive rebounds per game.

Second-Chance Points 
•     Navy has scored more second-chance points than its foes in 181 of the 271 games (66.8%) it has played since the start of the 2014-15 season.  
•     25 of the 60 career points scored by Mike Woods have been second-chance points.
•    Navy has scored on 15 of the 33 possessions in which Woods has grabbed an offensive rebound.
