Army and Navy Men’s Basketball Teams to Vie for Star Saturday in Annapolis on CBS Sports Network

The annual Star Game between the Army (14-12, 8-5) and Navy (14-11, 7-6) men's basketball teams will be played Saturday at 1:30 p.m. in Annapolis.  The Army-Navy women's Star Game will precede the men's game at 11 a.m.

Five Starting Notes
1 – Saturday's game has been designated as the annual Star Game, part of the Star Series presented by USAA.  Additionally, the Alumni Trophy will be presented to the winner of the game, as it has since 1984.
2 – The game will be the 139th in the series.  The only other team has faced as many as 100 times is American.  The Mids and the Eagles have played 101 games against one another.
3 – This is the 91st straight season in which Army and Navy are facing each other for at least one game, as well as the 100th season in which the teams are playing.
4 – Army holds a 803-802 scoring advantage in the last 12 games played in Annapolis.  Navy holds a 923-915 scoring advantage over the last 13 games regardless of site.
5 – Seniors at the USNA who received surface warfare officer for their service assignment selected their initial ships on Feb. 2.  Christian Jones selected the USS Fitzgerald (DDG 62), a destroyer based in San Diego, Calif., and Tyler Nelson selected the USS Iwo Jima (LHD 7), a landing helicopter dock ship based in Norfolk, Va.

Game Day Info
•    The game will be televised on the CBS Sports Network.  It will be available for streaming to those who have subscribed to the channel through their cable television package.
•    The game will be carried on WNAV (AM-1430, FM-99.9, www.wnav.com, Audacy app).
•     Live statistics will be available through NavySports.com.

Attending the Game
•     Fans without a Department of Defense ID card must park outside of the USNA and either walk through the gate one visitors center or ride the shuttle bus.  Shuttle bus service begins at 9:30 a.m.  It will depart from and return to the blue (west) parking lot at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium (550 Taylor Ave., Annapolis, MD, 21401).

Last Game - Navy 71, Bucknell 65
•    Navy started the game 1-11 from the field in falling behind 9-3 and 18-10.  The Mids tied the game at 25 and took a 28-26 lead.  The Bison would go on to end the first half on a 9-1 run to take a 37-32 lead.
•    Bucknell grew its lead to 43-35 and 48-41.  Navy tied the game at 48-48 and took a 52-50 lead  After a Bison triple, the Mids scored 13 of the next 15 points to take a 65-55 lead.
•    Navy held a 20-6 edge in points after turnovers.
•    Daniel Deaver totaled 20 points, six rebounds and six assists, Sean Yoder posted 18 points, five rebounds and five assists and Tyler Nelson added 14 points and four rebounds.

About Army 
•    Army has posted an overall record of 14-12 this season and an 8-5 record in Patriot League play.  
•    The Black Knights have tallied a 6-5 record in true road games this season, which includes a 4-2 record in league road games.
•    Army has won three of its last four games, including a 76-70 win Wednesday at home over Loyola.

Series History
•    The series began Feb. 21, 1920, when Navy won a 24-18 game at West Point.
•    The teams have met annually since that game except for the 1928-29 through 1929-32 seasons.
•    Navy holds an 83-55 advantage in the all-times series, which includes a 45-25 lead in games played at Navy and a 23-13 lead in games played in Alumni Hall.
•    Navy leads Army, 41-22, in Patriot League regular season games played between the teams.  This includes Navy leads of 19-13 in league games played at Navy, all of which were played in Alumni Hall.
•    Only once in the last seven seasons has one team won both regular season games in the series (Army, 2020).
•    Three of the last six games in the series have gone to overtime, as have five of the last 14 games.

Series Longevity
•    This is the 100th season in which Army and Navy are facing each other.  The only years in which the teams have not met since the first game in 1919-20 were the 1928-29 through 1929-32 seasons.
•    Army and Navy are meeting this year for the 91st season in a row. That is the longest uninterrupted series among Patriot League programs.
•    Army and Navy enter today having met on 138 previous occasions.  That ranks fourth for the most games played among Patriot League teams and first for the most games played by the Mids against an opponent.

Road Team in the Series Recently
•     The road team has had the upper hand in the series of late, posting records of 4-0, 11-4 and 16-6.

Halftime Leads in the Series
•    The team LEADING at halftime has posted an 8-3 record over the last 11 games and a 57-17 record since 1974 (there have been three games in which the score was tied at halftime).

Miscellaneous Game Records
•    The Mids have tallied a 231-185 record against teams located in New York.
•    Navy has posted a 20-11 record in games played on Feb. 11.  This includes a 4-5 record in Patriot League regular season games played on the date.
•    The teams have met on Feb. 11 just once previously.  The Black Knights posted a 69-63 double overtime win over the Mids at West Point on Feb. 11, 2012.
