ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's swimming and diving team won three events Saturday to build a commanding lead over the rest of the field at the ECAC Championship at Lejeune Hall in Annapolis. The Mids have totaled 537.5 points and hold a lead of nearly 300 points over second-place Bucknell (259).
The Navy women's team fell to second place 11 points behind Bucknell. The Bison have totaled 328 points to better the 317 points posted by the mids through two days of the three-day meet.
Benjamin Stankovich (Fr., Dumfries, Va.) won the 200 freestyle for Navy on Saturday. He posted a time of 1:36.78 to win the final by 13-hundredths of a second.
The Mids also won both relay events Saturday. Navy started the evening with its team of
Thomas Morris (So., New Albany, Ohio),
Richie Trentalange (Jr., Leonardo, N.J.),
Warren Turner (Sr., Memphis, Tenn.) and
Ben Denman-Grimm (Fr., Vienna, Va.) recording a time of 1:28.08 to win the 200 medley relay by 1.24 seconds. The Mids then saw their 800 free relay team of
Cohen Bruner (So., Hilton Head, S.C.),
Gio Aguirre (Fr., Foxfield, Colo.),
Evan McKelvey (Fr., Ann Arbor, Mich.) and Stankovich tally a 6:33.53 to win the event by eight seconds.
The championship concludes Sunday.
