ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's tennis team concluded its home schedule by posting a pair of victories Wednesday afternoon.  The Mids (19-19) registered a 6-1 victory over Howard (3-11) and defeated Mount St. Mary's (4-13) by the score of 4-0.

Navy 6, Howard 1
Navy won all three matches to earn the doubles point against Howard.  The Mids automatically took a 2-0 lead when the Bison didn't enter a player into the No. 6 spot in the singles lineup.  Navy would win four singles matches, three of them by straight sets.

Christian Pumpelly (Sr., Atlanta, Ga.) and Gavin Segraves (Sr., Charlottesville, Va.) combined for a 7-6 (8-6) win at No. 1 doubles, then each won a pair of singles matches.  Segraves tallied a 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 1 flight and Pumpelly won, 4-6, 6-0, 1-0 (10-8), at No. 4 singles.  

Also winning in both singles and doubles were J.J. Etterbeek (Fr., Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Matthew McNair (Fr., Annapolis, Md.).  The pair didn't lose a game in posting a 6-0 win at No. 3 doubles, Etterbeek followed with a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 2 singles and McNair recorded a 6-3, 6-1 win at the No. 5 flight.

The remaining No. 2 doubles match saw Aniketh Ayinala (Fr., Charlotte, N.C.) and Luke Garner (So., Arnold, Md.) win by the score of 6-3.

Navy 4, Mount St. Mary's 0
Luke Garner took to the courts for his second match of the day as he combined with Sasha Panyan (Jr., Lutherville, Md.) for a 6-1 victory at No. 1 doubles.  A 6-1 win by Navy's No. 2 team of Finn Garner (Sr., Arnold, Md.) and Nathan Nguyen (Fr., McLean, Va.) secured the doubles point for the Mids against the Mountaineers.

Panyan quickly won a 6-1, 6-0 decision at No. 1 singles to make the score 2-0.  Herrick Legaspi (Fr., Sacramento, Calif.) earned a 6-3, 6-4 win at No. 3 singles, then Graydon Buckingham (Fr., Daufuskie Island, S.C.) notched a 6-4, 6-3 win at the No. 5 flight to end play.

Nguyen at No. 4 and Dylan Carol (Sr., Miami, Fla.) at No. 6 were each one game away from posting straight-set victories when play was halted due to the overall match being decided.  Also, Luke Garner was about to start the third set of his No. 2 singles match at the time play stopped.
