ANNAPOLIS, Md. – This past week, the Navy offshore sailing team had two crews compete in the 640-mile Marion to Bermuda Race, while two other Midshipmen crews sailed in the Block Island Race Week in Rhode Island.
 
In the race to Bermuda, senior Phil Pacheco skippered the Navy 44 Defiance to first place in class. His crew included senior XO Dylan Medina, senior Frank Carter, junior Ethan Sullivan and sophomores Kai Widick, Matt Irving, Eva White and Kaili Williams.
 
In the other Navy boat to Bermuda, senior Aidan Johnson led the Navy 44 Integrity to third place in the same class, as his crew included senior XO Jaden Tabak, senior Kobe Nguyen, juniors Austin Nolan and Jack Ubert and sophomores Maddy Nienow, Jordan Hall and Nancy Rhodes.
 
At Block Island Race Week, senior Rick Irving led his crew aboard the Farr 40 Zephyr to second overall in their class for the series, as he skippered the group of senior XO Renee Bonner, senior Ian Mason, junior Harry Morrow and sophomores Sawyer Barnard, Sam Mentel and Kylie Brunning, alongside ensign Joey Zaladonis.
 
Captaining the other boat in Rhode Island, senior Rowan Suarez skippered the Swan 45 Poseidon to ninth in their class for the week. Suarez's crew included senior XO Henry Isom, senior Sydney Richardson, juniors Nathan Broomfield and Nick Gibbons and sophomores Cory Daut, Myles McGrath, Connor McKee and Josh Fisher.
