ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team had two crews competing in the 360-mile Marblehead to Halifax Ocean Race, with one of the Mids' boat taking first overall in the event.
The race featured numerous challenges including swift tidal currents from the Bay of Fundy, a wide range of wind speed and direction, occasionally torrential rain and dense fog for most of the race which kept visibility to less than a couple hundred yards, but both crews demonstrated exceptional perseverance and stamina as well as solid teamwork.
Senior Javier Jimenez-Kane skippered KODIAK to first place in its class and took the top spot overall by beating 63 other teams in the race.

Navy was also represented by the crew of WAHOO, who took fourth place in the same class as KODIAK.
