BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- Navy's
Averi Miller (Sr., Phoenix, Ariz.) was named the Patriot League Preseason Setter of the Year in voting by the league's volleyball head coaches and sports information contacts, the league announced today. She was joined on the seven-player preseason all-league team by teammates
Maggie Bodman (Sr., Northbrook, Ill.) and
Jordan Llewellyn (Sr., Port Deposit, Md.).
Additional balloting of the group placed Navy third in the league's preseason poll.
Miller received second-team all-league accolades last season when she paced the league with an average of 10.57 assists per set during the regular season.
Bodman has earned all-league honors after each of her first three seasons, which included a first-team nod last year when she led the league with a .382 hitting percentage and ranked fifth with a 1.03 blocks-per-set average in league matches.
Llewellyn ranked third in the league in both kills (3.42) and aces (0.48) per set against league foes last season to earn second-league all-league laurels.
Navy received two first-place votes and 98 points in all to finish in third place in the poll. The Mids return their 2022 starting lineup and all but one letter winner from last year's team that finished in third place during the regular season with an 11-5 record, posted an overall record of 16-12 and advanced to the championship match of the Patriot League Tournament.
Navy opens the regular season with the Aug. 25-26 UAlbany Invitational (vs. Syracuse, UCF, UAlbany) and will begin its home slate Sept. 1-3 with the 12th edition of the Kristen Dickmann Invitational (vs. Utah Valley, Old Dominion and Maryland).
