ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy intercollegiate sailing team played host to three different in-conference events over the weekend, as the Faye Bennet MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship, Chesapeake Invitational and Chesapeake Open all took place in Annapolis.
The first conference championship of the season, the Faye Bennet MAISA Women's Singlehanded Championship had 18 competitors from around the conference. Racing began in a nice northwesterly breeze on the Severn River, as six races were completed on Saturday before the wind became too light and variable to continue mid-afternoon. Sunday's racing took place in the mouth of the Severn near Tolly Point, with the remaining eight races scheduled before the 4 p.m. cutoff all finishing.
