ANNAPOLIS, Md. – The Navy offshore sailing team had one crew make the trek to Chicago, Ill., to compete in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta, as the Midshipmen finished in third place on Sunday.
 
Sailing in the J/105 class, the Mids completed five races on Saturday and sat in second place, just one point behind first-place Brown. Unfortunately, after three more races Sunday on Lake Michigan, Navy fell to third place behind the College of Charleston as the regatta concluded.
 
Navy's team was skippered by senior Renee Bonner and included seniors Jessie Sedlock, Kobe Nguyen and Sydney Richardson, along with juniors Nick Gibbons and Nate Broomfield.
 
Next up for Navy is the Shields Trophy Regatta on Sept. 30 and Oct. 1 in Annapolis.
