Mids Travel to New York City for Regular Season Finale Friday at Columbia

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's swimming and diving team (7-3) heads to New York City for a Friday (noon) meet at Columbia (3-4) in the school's Percy Uris Natatorium.  This will be Navy's final dual meet of the season.

Rankings
After being ranked 25th in December's College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America national poll, Navy fell out of the top 25 in the January rankings that were released Thursday.  The Mids were one of five teams to receive votes for the poll.

The two remaining polls will be released Feb. 8 (before conference championships) and Feb. 29 (after conference championships).

Navy Update
The Mids last competed Jan. 12-13 when they took part in a two-day extended dual meet in South Bend, Ind., against Notre Dame and Princeton.  The 12th-ranked Irish defeated Navy, 219-134, and the Tigers, who are now ranked 24th nationally, recorded a 199-154 victory over the Mids.

Columbia Preview
The Lions have posted a 3-3 record against Ivy League competition this season.  The lone additional meet for Columbia saw them drop a 178-119 decision at Army this past weekend.

Series History
Navy holds a 67-26 lead in the all-time series with Columbia.  The Mids have posted wins in the last three meetings, including a 166.5-133.5 victory last season in Annapolis.

Navy totaled nine event victories, including each relay race, during last year's meet held Jan. 21 in Lejeune Hall.

Navy returns event winners Everet Andrew, who won the 100 and 200 free events, Austin Lockhart, who placed first in the 50 free, and Patrick Colwell, the 100 fly event winner.  Columbia's lone returning event winner is Adam Wu, who won the 500 and 1000 free races.
