No. 25 Men’s Swimming and Diving Travels to Towson Saturday

ANNAPOLIS, Md. -- The Navy men's swimming and diving team (6-1) will open the 2024 calendar year with a Saturday meet at Towson (4-0).  The diving events will begin at 10 a.m. in Burdick Pool and the swimming portion of the dual will follow at noon.

Navy in the National Rakings
The Mids ended 2023 ranked 25th in the December College Swimming and Diving Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) national poll.  It marked Navy's first appearance in the ranking since it was 24th in the December 2020 poll.

Navy Recap
Navy's last meet saw it record the program's 32nd win over Army in 33 years.  The Mids defeated the Black Knights, 153-147, on December 7 in Annapolis.  There were six lead changes in the meet with five of them occurring in the last half of the evening.  Navy would win nine of the 16 events during the meet to win the closest dual between the teams in 30 years.

Towson Preview
The Tigers have posted wins this season over La Salle, George Mason, Old Dominion and William & Mary.

Towson finished the 2022-23 season with a 3-3 record during the regular season and a third-place showing in the Colonial (now Coastal) Athletic Association Championship.

Series History
Navy has won all eight prior meets against Towson, including a 150-139 victory one year ago in Annapolis.

The Mids won 10 of the 16 events during last year's dual in Lejeune Hall.  Navy's returning event winners from that meet are Jack Lambert, 1000 freestyle; Cohen Bruner, 200 freestyle; Patrick Colwell, 200 butterfly; Brian Denman-Grimm, 100 freestyle and Blakeman Shaw, both diving boards.

Returning for the Tigers from last season's meet are Michael Fazio, who won the 50 freestyle, Brian Benzing, who won the 100 breaststroke, and Reed Sells, placed first in both backstroke races.
