The 21st-ranked Navy squash team dropped to 8-6 on the year, as the Midshipmen opened the second half of their 2023-24 season over the weekend with losses to #20 Middlebury (5-0), #11 Williams (4-5) and #18 Amherst (5-3). Navy dropped 8-1 decisions to Middlebury and Amherst and a 9-0 match to Williams.

Match Highlights
• Alexander Orr (So / Haverford, Pa.) secured the Mids' lone victory against an undefeated Middlebury squad in the weekend's first match ... Orr scored a 3-0 win (12-10, 11-8, 13-11) over PK Keller at the #5 position
• Despite the lop-sided final result, Navy went toe-to-toe Panthers ... 3 of the Mids' losses went 5 games
• Both Henry Sparkman (Sr / Darien, Conn. // vs. Caleb Boateng, 8-11, 9-11, 12-10, 12-10, 11-6) and Tighe Mullarkey (Fr, So / Locust Valley, N.Y. // vs. Gabriel Thin, 10-12, 9-11, 11-4, 11-9, 11-5) held a 2-0 advantage against their respective opponents, but were unable to hang on ... Lucas Spiro (Jr / Buffalo, N.Y.), meanwhile, traded wins with Theo Kogan at #3, but it was Kogan who would take the fifth and final game (12-10, 7-11, 11-5, 11-13, 11-5)
• Matt Wang (Jr / Malvern, Pa.) found himself down 2-1 in his match against Amherst's #1 player Adam Lichtmacher (A), but came back to earn the match victory by way of wins in games four and five (11-7, 7-11, 9-11, 11-5, 11-6 )
• Similar to the Middlebury match, Navy lost extended matches in 3 bouts against Amherst ... among those was a five-gamer that saw Orr come up just short against Neal Malani (10-12, 12-10, 11-13, 13-11, 11-9 )
• Sparkman and Spiro, meanwhile, succumbed to their Amherst foes in 4 games

• Navy will be back on the road next weekend with matches at St. Lawrence (Friday / 5:30 pm), vs. Brown (Saturday / 12:00 pm / at St. Lawrence) and at Hobart (Sunday, 12:00 pm)
